INNOVATE. AUTOMATE. ELEVATE.

About Us

We are a student organization dedicated to advancing autonomous UAV technology for the annual SUAS competition. Formed with a vision to accelerate research in autonomous systems, we are committed to designing, building, and testing reliable and efficient UAVs. Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise from various fields, applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges through rigorous engineering and innovation. By fostering collaboration and continuous improvement, IAV aims to set new standards in autonomous technology and make a meaningful impact on the world.

About The Competition

The SUAS (Student Unmanned Aerial Systems) Competition is an annual event challenging university teams to design, integrate, and demonstrate UAS with autonomous flight and remote sensing capabilities. Since 2002, it has fostered interest in UAS technologies, engaging students in tasks like autonomous flight, obstacle avoidance, and object detection. Teams are evaluated on their engineering approach, UAS design, mission readiness, and performance. Hosted at St. Mary's County Regional Airport in Maryland and managed by RoboNation, the SUAS competition showcases students' technical skills and teamwork.
